At Capsule Corp, Vegeta does some training in the gravity room. And little Trunks is training too. Vegeta tries telling him that 100G might be too much for him, but Trunks says that Goten called and said he was competing in the Budoukai, so he's going too. Vegeta tries explaining that it's not a game, and then Trunks says it's too hard, and he needs to turn Super Saiya-jin...? No, not him too... Daddy's surprised as well. And impressed that his son became a Super Saiya-jin so easily. And pissed that his son became a Super Saiya-jin so easily. And he asks if Gohan's brother can also do it. Which pisses him off some more. Vegeta then tells Trunks to hit him. If he hits him in the face, he'll take him to the amusement park. Our little purple-haired friend gets excited at the thought, as does Rachel! Trunks goes for it, and then BAM. Vegeta whacks him across the room. He never said he wouldn't hit back, heh. Trunks starts to cry, and Veggie gives in and decides to take him anyways. He also asks who's stronger, him or Goten? Trunks says he's stronger since he's a year older and Goten can't fly. Vegeta doesn't like this thing with the SSJ kids at all. But then again, Vegeta doesn't like much of anything. Elsewhere, Videl's getting pretty good at flying, sort of, she can float a lot higher. Gohan doesn't think there's anything left to teach her, and then Goten starts flyin all over the place. Videl wants to keep training until she can fly like he can, and Gohan scolds Goten for not holding back around her. Then she asks Gohan not to tell her dad about the flying thing, she wants it to be a surprise. And she also says that her dad wouldn't like her going to a guy's house, she has to date someone stronger than him. Uh, yeah... Videl starts sayin stuff about how Gohan might be able to be stronger than her dad, and then Gohan asks her if she trains with him. Not anymore. Gohan thinks to himself about how Videl doesn't even know that she's stronger than Mr. Satan. Gohan asks if she'd be upset if her dad lost, and she says no, stuff about him needing to learn humility and the what not. They prepare to continue, but then Videl asks Gohan who trained him. His late father and this other dude. Hmm, perhaps Gohan's finally gotten over his adoration for the green man. No more "Piccolo-san Daisuki." :-( She says that his dad must've been pretty strong, and Gohan says he was. And then Goten says how he's coming back for a day at the Budoukai. Gohan scolds him again, but then Videl takes it to mean something else. Well, after ten days, Videl can now fly freely. Now Gohan and Goten can do some real training. Chicks just get in the way, dude. Goten has what looks like some kinda little bug catching net. Aww!
We see everyone doing some training: Gohan. Vegeta. Piccolo (the usual mid-air meditation, except this time there's no nearby waterfalls). Kuririn. Videl. Goten. Trunks (one finger push-ups). Mr. Satan (our champion's training regimen consists of enjoying a cool drink and reading a magazine). Gokuu (sitting on a rock). And now the day is here. Everyone heads towards the place in some plane flown by Buruma. Let's see, there's Buruma at the wheel (?), with Vegeta as, uh, co-pilot (?), Kamesennin and Gohan in one seat, Kuririn and Juuhachigou in another with the little blond girl in between them (hmm...), Trunks and Goten, Chi-Chi and Yamcha, Pual floating around as always, and Gyuumaou in the back since he's too big to sit with anyone else. Anyways, everyone talks about how excited they are to see Gokuu again, and Yamcha says he won't be participating this time. Gohan tells Kuririn that Gokuu won't recognize him. Then he tells Goten, Trunks, and Vegeta that they shouldn't become Super Saiya-jin during the Budoukai. Vegeta asks why, and Buruma says it's because people will see them on TV and recognize them from the Cell Games, especially in SSJ form. Vegeta says he'll just destroy all the TVs, and Buruma tells him no. Vegeta doesn't care, because he's going to win. Trunks and Goten are okay with the not turning SSJ thing too, much to the delight of Kuririn. They all get there, and there's a big crowd (Kuririn and Juuhachigou are each holding one of the little blond girl's hands...). They all look around for Gokuu, while everyone else gets excited at the arrival of Mr. Satan. Our champion poses for the crowd as they chant for him, and he tells the cameramen that the odds he'll win are 120%. Goten then notices that Piccolo's arrived, and he then insults THE GREAT SAIYAMAN's really cool outfit once again. Ma Junior has no taste... Piccolo hasn't seen Gokuu either. And then...tada! He arrives, fully equipped with the usual orange Gi and a halo. Everyone tears up, except Piccolo, who just smirks, Goten, who's confused, Juuhachigou, who was never exactly a friend of Gokuu's, Trunks, who doesn't even know Gokuu, and Vegeta, well, he's not gonna cry over Kakarott's arrival. Oh yeah, it looks like Oolong is with them, too. The hugging begins, and then Baba leaves, telling Gokuu she'll be back in twenty-four hours. Gokuu then notices that Goten is a mirror image of him as he hides behind his mommy. They all start signing up, and Trunks finds out that everyone under fifteen has to compete in the kids division, much to the delight of Kuririn. A lot's changed in eighteen years, I guess. The fighters all head off to the dressing rooms as the others go to the audience or whatever.
Kuririn explains to Gokuu that he wasn't naturally bald as they head towards, uh, wherever they're going. Trunks tells Goten that he's just like his dad (and he is, too, it's almost scary), and he thinks Vegeta still looks stronger. If only it were so... Goten says that Gohan said that Gokuu is number one. And then, finally, Gokuu notices Juuhachigou, asking her if she is, in fact, Juuhachigou. "Baka!" And then Kuririn explains about how she lives with him at Kame House, and they have a daughter, the little blond girl. Aha! It all makes sense now, except for one little thing: Gokuu wants to know how androids can have babies. Kuririn sort of explains that she's not an android, but a cyborg. Then some news people try interviewing them, and Vegeta and Piccolo blow them off. Gokuu on the other hand... They ask him where he's from, and he says the afterlife. Is his halo an accessory? Nope, you get it when you're dead. [Note to self: Never go out in public with Gokuu or Goten.] To make up for Gokuu's, uh, naivete, Piccolo blows up the camera telekinetically or something. Kuririn, Trunks, and Vegeta all go to the locker room to go get changed, Kuririn bragging about how "strong" he is, and Trunks pissed about not getting to fight the adults. Some dude thinks Piccolo might be sick, and he tries explaining that green is his "normal" complexion. Some more walking and stuff, and then they bump into the announcer. He instantly recognizes Gokuu and Kuririn, and vice versa. And he knows that it was them, not Mr. Satan, who saved the world from Cell. He's glad they're there, since they'll make it more interesting with their ridiculous strength. He also asks Piccolo not to destroy the ring this time, and Piccolo says he'll try. He also notices Gokuu's halo, and Gokuu explains how he got it when he died in the fight against Cell. It comes as a shock to him that these dudes are capable of dying. Then it's announced that the preliminaries will begin, and there are 194 participants, but there can only be 16 finalists. But, Mr. Satan is automatically entered into the finals, so only 15 of them will make it. The announcer waves goodbye, and then the PA says that a punching machine will be used instead of the usual elimination matches. Kuririn asks Gohan about the punching machine as if he's supposed to know everything (Piccolo's the real Mr. Know-it-all), and then they say that Mr. Satan will demonstrate it. Everyone cheers for him, and then Kuririn says some crap about there being lots of people capable of kicking our champion's ass. Then Piccolo blows up all the cameras so his little buddy's identity would remain a secret. Well, Gohan's grateful, and Satan's pissed/confused. Gohan goes off to look for a "friend," and then our champion powers up for the punching machine. And wham! He scores 137 points. Yeah! Then, unfortunately, Mr. Satan leaves, and Trunks and Goten are called off towards the kids division. Then after some random civilians hit the machine, it's Juuhachigou's turn, and Kuririn asks her not to hit it too hard, as not to break it. 774 points! (Did I say Mr. Satan's score was 137? I meant 1370.) They think it might be broken, and once again Kuririn tells her not too hard. After it's fixed, she gets 203. Kuririn's turn: 193. Gokuu: 188. Piccolo: 210. They think it might still be broken, and then Vegeta gets pissed off and blows the thing up.
Well, Gohan and Videl are somewhere, and Videl's curious as to why Gohan isn't shocked about Vegeta destroying the machine. And Videl's also shocked about all the scores being over 200 and beating her dad's record of 139. Then Gokuu and Vegeta (and I guess everyone else) decide to go watch the kids division as they set up another machine for the rest of the contestants. Silly Veggie, blowin up everything. ^_^ And then they bump into Gohan and Videl, and notice that his "friend" is a girl. Kuririn compliments Gohan by saying Videl's cute (does that make any sense?), and then Gokuu tells Gohan that they're going to watch Trunks and Goten. Videl's shocked that he knows those weirdoes, and Gohan explains that the dude in orange is his dad. Isn't your dad dead? Yeah, that's why he has a halo. [Note to self: Never go out in public with Gohan, either.] Videl wonders about Gohan and his friends, and then the kids division is about to start. The announcer explains that even the winner of the kids division gets ten million zenii, and second place gets five million. And as another bonus, the winner gets to face the champion...Mr. Satan! Cheers, posing for the fans, etc. Satan runs out towards the ring and slips, but it was just a joke. Backstage (??), Trunks asks Goten what he's gonna buy with the money, and he says candy and toys. Aww! But Trunks isn't sure, since he's got more than enough money as it is. Then some other kid with a mullet says he lucked out by getting Trunks as an opponent. Then the mullet kid goes and plays the bully role, stuff about diapers, and then Trunks calls him an idiot and insults his hair. Mullets are cool, but purple surfer cuts are MONDO COOL. The kid threatens him, and then it cuts back to Mr. Satan's telling the crowd how great he is, as if we don't already know. He says he's "really scared" about facing the winner. Then the tournament begins, and Gokuu comments about everything getting fancy since the last time. Piccolo replies saying something about a circus (perhaps wanting to join one?), and then the announcer explains there are 35 participants in the first ever kids division. The rules are the same as the adults division. Some random civilians fight, and then it's Trunks vs Idarsa (the kid with the mullet). Trunks tries to ignore his idle threats, and some dude in the audience feels sorry for him, an eight-year-old against a fifteen-year-old. Idarsa's mommy waves to him (big fat ugly chick, of course), and she happens to be sitting right next to Buruma. She says something about Idarsa not facing a worthy opponent, and then Buruma yells for Trunks to kick his ass. The fight begins, and then Trunks knocks him out in like two seconds. Then Goten's all happy-go-lucky about his fight being next, and Trunks tells him that that was why he wanted to face the adults.
Some other crap, and then it's fourteen-year-old Ikose against seven-year-old Goten. Ikose is Idarsa's brother, and he also has a mullet. He thinks Goten will be easy pickins for some reason. Ikose obviously doesn't realize that CUTE = DANGEROUS. The mom tells Ikose to not be stupid like his brother, and then Chi-Chi calls out for Goten to do his best. Ikose thinks he's gonna play around with Goten to show off his MADD SKILLZ or whatever, and then the announcer notices that Goten looks just like Gokuu did when he was a kid. Except he's even cuter! The fight begins, and Goten keeps telling him to fight for real. Some more punches, and Goten finally just hits him and knocks his ugly ass out, then bows. Buruma makes fun of the mom, and then she gets pissed, and then Chi-Chi punches her off into the distance. Elsewhere, Videl's all impressed about Goten's victory, but Gohan's not surprised. She thinks he doesn't care, and he tries (miserably) to convince her otherwise. And of course, Trunks and Goten plow through all their opponents and are going to face each other in the finals. Some servant dude convinces Mr. Satan to watch the finals. Then Videl and Gohan join the others to watch it, as it's going to be the first one that'll actually be interesting. The fight starts, and they tell each other they won't hold back. Mr. Satan thinks Goten looks familiar. They exchange punches and stuff, then they halt and smirk at each other. Satan looks scared, and the others are impressed at the first ACTUAL fight of the day.
Oh yeah, the flying thing seemed to shock everyone. But the audience is impressed, nonetheless. They're pissed about Piccolo blowing up their cameras, so they can't record this display of awesomeness. The announcer is happy, thinking this is the way it should've always been. Trunks thinks Goten's gotten a little better, and then prepares to blast him. The Z Senshi are all freaked, stuff about hitting the audience, but Gokuu has faith in them. Trunks fires off the blast, Goten flies up, and then Trunks diverts it accordingly. But it's a miss, just off into the horizon. Gokuu was right, and Mr. Satan thinks it looked familiar. Goten says he can do it too, Gohan showed him. "Ka...me...KA...me...ha!" Aww... Even Trunks knows that's wrong. Off it goes, Trunks tilts his head, and it hits the tip of the building, no casualties, though. Gokuu remarks about him lacking control, and then Goten giggles about hitting that "house." Mr. Satan thinks he looks like the dude who was fighting Cell. Trunks thinks they shouldn't use anymore ki attacks, and Videl's all surprised and stuff. Then they charge at each other, and Goten ends up in the air, and Trunks suddenly gets behind him and locks him in a Full Nelson position. Trunks keeps telling him to give up, otherwise he'll die, and Vegeta gloats about his son winning. But then, SUPER SAIYA-JIN GOTEN! He breaks free, and they take ground, Trunks saying he cheated. Goten's sorry, and I doubt anyone could refuse forgiveness to him. But Gohan's pissed, Gokuu's surprised, Videl is more wide-eyed than a whole truckload of Powerpuff Girls, and Vegeta is incredibly angry at Kakarott for cheating. And Mr. Satan is now positive that the dude who fought Cell is Goten's dad. He didn't even know he had a kid! (Go...ha...n...?)
Trunks says he could beat Goten without his left arm if he wanted to. Some punches and stuff, Trunks using only his right arm. Goten seems to be winning, and then Trunks fires off a one-armed blast, but it hits the floor. Goten flies up really really high, and then he darts straight down, and Trunks dodges at the last minute. But Goten barely saves himself from crashing into the ground, and then goes after Trunks. So, purple hair turns gold... SSJ Trunks blasts Goten into the audience (with his left arm, no less) and he's unable to stop himself. Goten's feet just barely touch the stands... :-( Well, Trunks is declared the winner, and Goten's none too happy, calls him a cheater. But Trunks thinks they're even now, and Vegeta gloats about his son being better to Gokuu. And the audience is totally wowed. Totally. Goten scowls (and he's STILL cute doing it), and Trunks tells him he'll give him any three of his toys he wants. Goten's happy again, yay! And the next fight is the special attraction of the kids champion, Trunks, versus the world champion, Mr. Satan! Our champion looks scared again.
The crowd cheers, and Satan continues the whole [pretending to be] afraid ideal. Trunks tells the announcer he doesn't need a break. Out comes our champion, and everyone cheers. Trunks wonders if this old dude, the world champion, is stronger than his dad. Goten yells for Trunks to give it his all, and Satan tells him to mind his own business. The Z Senshi decide to go off for the rest of the eliminations and stuff, and Videl yells at Gohan for not wanting to watch his little friend fight, so he ends up staying. Mr. Satan charges up, and then the crowd cheers. Trunks thinks he went out of his way to look bad or something. Then Trunks does some stretches, and Satan tells him not to take the special attraction fight so seriously. But Trunks says he's goin all out for the world champion. Satan says not to be childish, but Trunks says he's a kid. The fight's about to start, and, oh! Mr. Satan's knee! The wound he got from fighting Cell. He doesn't think he can fight. But the announcer tells him there's a doctor there, and he miraculously recovers! Satan thinks he'll pretend to lose on purpose, since Trunks's just a kid. What a guy. He goes up to Trunks and tells him to tap his face lightly when the fight starts, it's the special greeting. Satan then tells the announcer that the kid just wanted his autograph, and they can start the fight now. The fight starts, and Satan leans in, grinning, and Trunks knocks him outta the ring, into the wall. There's a big hole in the wall, and Mr. Satan waves to the crowd, laughing, and they cheer him for the nice thing he did, jobbing to the kid. Trunks doesn't understand, and backstage, Satan's mad about him not hitting him lightly.
